This course is a work-based training program in keeping with the requirements of the National Vocational Qualification ( NVQ) Level 1 standards. Students learn employability skills required in any workplace. This is a Regional Occupational Standard that has been approved for training and certification in CARICOM territories. The NVQ Level 1 in Food & Beverage - Restaurant Service allows students to develop behavioral competencies. The qualification covers competencies by providing services in Food & Beverages – Restaurant service Level 1 such as being able to understand and carry out components of tourism and hospitality, business services and information technology while working in a safe and hygienic manner.
Some areas covered in this program include:
 Work with colleagues and customers
 Develop and update hospitality Industry Knowledge
 Provide food and beverage service
 Follow work place hygiene procedure
 Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages
