Good morning Cardinals,

I trust that the morning started WELL and that you are well on your way to an exciting new week - the last couple of days in November and the start of the last month of 2021.

Lots of exciting things have happened these last two weeks:

a)  FINAL GOODBYE TO CLASS OF 2021 - The members of Class of 2021 participated in their School Leaving and Awards exercise.  An awesome day it was!  Thursday 25th November, 2021 brought with it some very interesting surprises to graduates and challenged them to continue to respond maturely to all situations. Students' awards were NOT based on performance at CXC results.  Students' awards were based on the students BEHAVIOUR, ATTENDANCE and PERFORMANCE over the past 3 years (Form 3, Form 4 and Form 5).  Students received gifts from teachers, outstanding awards for Consistency, Academic prowess, Dedication, Perseverance, Improvement and Discipline.  The three coveted awards are - Contribution to School Life - Cardinal for Life, Principal's Award and Student of the Year.  This year's Cardinal for Life Award went to Aeryn George.  Principal's Awardee is Miriam Montoute.  Student of the Year - Class of 2021 - is Aeryn George.  This is the Youtube link to view the entire exercise - https://youtu.be/31aDMv0qnOU

b) PREFECT INSTALLATION -  Our Form 5 students who are now PREFECTS are now installed.  Thank God for their service in managing our student population.

C)  CXC (CSEC) SBAs - Most students are well on their way to finishing non-TVET SBAs and some are currently feverishly working on labs that will qualify them marks towards their CXC final grades. Over the past week and a half, our Form 5 F, N & H students were able to commence their annual SBA and we saw lovely and innovative preparations of various types of Breads. Some students have actually started their own 'little' businesses.

d)  Field Trips - Our Form 5 Biology students were able to activity participate in their ecology field trip - thanks to parents for cooperating and teachers for bravely organising.  More field trips are being planned by other departments before the term ends.

e)   Annual Clubs/Groups Showcase - We held our Annual Clubs/Groups Showcase which spanned over 2 days allowing all lower school forms to view and giving them an opportunity to join the various organisations.  Thanks to the teachers who coordinated this activity and to the students who assisted.  Every student know by now, the benefits of actively belonging to a group/club, etc.

f)  MERITS - Our students were able to receive their MERIT badges.  Please do not forget - to earn a MERIT, one MUST pass with an average of at least 60% in both term and end of term tests.  This term, we hope that many of you will earn MERITS as it is so much easier to do so with continuous assessment.

g)  CXC Registration - Our current Form 5 students have registered and continue to register for the upcoming CXC(CSEC) Examinations.  Registration deadline is Friday 3rd December, 2021.  All Form 4 and Form 3 students who received permission to register with our Form 5 students MUST try to meet the deadline.  Please check the main office for all necessary details.

h)  Weekly RK Sessions - this activity continues to be very inspiring and enabling.  We have discovered so many talents that students and staff members possess.  Let us continue to be a blessing to each other.

i)  Students' Council Election - our CCSS' Students' Council held its Annual Election on Thursday 25th November, 2021.  Epic event!! The first ever FULLY virtual election saw 410 students voting electronically.  This year's President is none other than Omica Common of Form 5 Science.  We wish her and her team an exceptional tenure of office. Thank you Mr Biscette for your service as coordinator of the CCSS' Students' Council.

This week, you are each encouraged to

a)  remain focused - only 12 more school days left from today 29th November, 2021

b)  submit all your assignments - too often, students fail because of non-submission of assignments.  This term, we have introduced an additional 10% for Engagements (online and at school).  This includes participation in class, submission of assignments and behaviour online and in class).

Some teachers have organised end of term activities for various homerooms - please participate.  Homeroom activities help to foster closeness and togetherness as a homeroom.

Have an awesome week Cardinals - continue to keep safe; continue to social distance, wear your masks, sanitize and continue to live the 'CCSS - we're the best, huh' attitude.
